The R100 is Canon's cheapest RF-mount body and it shows. Fixed screen, 6.5fps, no in-body stabilisation. But $429 gets you into the RF ecosystem with a subject-recognition AF system that genuinely works, and that matters if you're looking for a lightweight second body or a starter kit for a family member who keeps grabbing your gear. Not a working photographer's primary tool. A solid answer to the question 'what do I buy someone who wants to get serious without spending serious money.'
