If you're heading on safari and shooting from a vehicle, the biggest killer of compelling wildlife shots isn't your lens — it's your angle. Dropping the camera low enough to hit eye-level with your subject transforms a snapshot into something that feels like you were on the ground with the animal. A monopod used inverted or extended sideways over the vehicle door gives you that low reach without a ballhead or awkward body contortion — and it's faster to reposition than a tripod when the action moves.
