Thypoch Voyager 24–50mm f/2.8: Budget Brand Goes Autofocus
Thypoch built its name on sharp, cheap manual glass for rangefinder shooters. Now they're going autofocus on Sony E-mount with the Voyager 24–50mm f/2.8, and that's a genuine market move worth watching. A constant f/2.8 zoom covering that wide-to-standard range is a real working focal length, covering everything from architecture interiors to corporate headshots in a single lens. The interesting thing isn't what Thypoch is doing — it's what it signals. Budget-tier manufacturers are no longer content to sit in the manual-only corner. They want the event, wedding, and commercial shooter who won't spend Tamron money, let alone Sony G Master money. If the autofocus performance holds up in practice, Sony shooters get another serious option under the premium tier. If it doesn't, it joins the pile of lenses that look great on paper and hunt in a dark reception room. Pricing will be the whole story here.
