FAA Proposes Rule That Could Close Airspace Over 125,000 US Sites

The FAA has proposed a rule that would allow critical infrastructure sites — power plants, dams, refineries and similar facilities — to apply for drone flight exclusions over their airspace. The agency's own estimate puts the number of eligible facilities at around 125,000 across the US. Public comment closes August 5 and has attracted fewer than 600 submissions.
