Four High-Res Full-Frame Sensors Compared: S1R II, a7R VI, R5 II, Z8

PetaPixel put the four current high-res full-framers head to head: Sony a7R VI (66MP), Canon EOS R5 Mark II and Nikon Z8 (both 45MP), and Panasonic Lumix S1R II (44MP). The Z8 posts the fastest readout at under 4ms, making electronic shutter genuinely usable for fast action; the R5 Mark II follows at around 6–6.5ms. The S1R II sits at ~37ms — the slowest of the group — and applies heavy baked-in noise reduction above ISO 5000 that costs fine detail. The a7R VI's 66MP gives it a clear cropping and print advantage, with readout down to ~19–20ms versus its predecessors.
