How CIPA 2024 Actually Measures IS Stops on Your Camera

Fstoppers explains how CIPA 2024 IS ratings are generated: camera fixed to a shaker table about two metres from a test chart, room temperature held at 23°C, at least 200 frames shot at each shutter speed. Canon's EOS R6 Mark III 8.5-stop centre and 7.5-stop periphery figures were produced under these controlled lab conditions using an RF 24-105mm F2.8 L IS USM Z at 105mm.
