The shade-line trick is the one thing here worth knowing if you don't already: place your subject just inside the shadow boundary, not deep in the shade, so ambient bounce from the sunlit area nearby does the heavy lifting. Everything else in this guide has been covered a thousand times — but if you're prepping a newer shooter for their first outdoor portrait session, this is a decent primer to send them.
