Dedicated monochrome sensors are a real and growing product category now, not a Leica oddity. Ricoh, Pentax, and Leica are all shipping them. If you've been dismissing this as rich-photographer theatre, the case for a mono sensor is simpler than the hype suggests: more resolution, better tonal gradation, and images that actually stop the scroll when everyone else is pushing saturated colour. Not a tool for every job. Very much a tool worth understanding.
