Nathan Beard has won the 2026 Australian Photographic Portrait Prize with a portrait of his aunt Mae Khong, shot while she was recovering from a serious fall. The prize carried a $30,000 cash award and drew more than 1,000 entries, with 30 finalists selected. The exhibition is running now at the National Portrait Gallery in Canberra.
