Nikon Z 14-30mm f/4 S: Still Worth It at $1,100?

The Z 14-30mm f/4 S is five years old and still outselling flashier options, which tells you something. At $1,100 versus the $2,000 f/2.8 version, the real question isn't image quality. It's whether you're shooting events in dark venues or landscapes in daylight. If it's the latter, you're paying a $900 premium for a stop of light you'll rarely use. The filter thread is the other underrated reason to own this lens. Screw-on filters on a 14mm. That alone earns its keep on architecture and seascape jobs.
