Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey is the first feature film shot entirely on IMAX 15-perf/65mm film cameras, using a newly developed camera called the Keighley. The format runs film horizontally at roughly 5.6 feet per second, and previous IMAX film cameras were too loud and magazine-limited for dialogue scenes, so Nolan's earlier films mixed formats. The Keighley addressed that with a quieter mechanism, a purpose-built sound blimp, and three-minute magazines, enabling a full 91-day shoot across six countries without format switching.
