Second Circuit: Filming Police in Public is First Amendment Right

A US federal appeals court confirmed in Massimino v. Benoit that filming publicly visible parts of a police station from a public sidewalk is protected under the First Amendment. Ruling applies in New York, Connecticut, and Vermont only. The plaintiff still can't recover damages from the officers involved.
