Sony FX5 Lab Test: Rolling Shutter, Dynamic Range, Exposure Latitude
auto_awesomePixelfetch Take
CineD has a production Sony FX5 in hand running firmware V1.00 and has put it through their standard lab test battery. Key measurements include rolling shutter at both dual-gain on and off, dynamic range in S-Log3 at 800 ISO, and exposure latitude. Dual-gain mode follows the pattern seen on the Canon C70, Lumix GH6/GH7, and S1II: roughly 1 to 1.5 stops more dynamic range, with rolling shutter approximately doubling when enabled.
