Viltrox EVO 35mm f/1.8 Review: $395 and Actually Built Properly

Third-party lenses used to mean a trade-off: you saved money, you paid for it somewhere in build quality or autofocus reliability. The Viltrox EVO lineup is dismantling that assumption fast. This 35mm f/1.8 ships with weather sealing, a metal barrel, de-clickable aperture for video, a dedicated AF/MF switch, and APO/ED glass for $395. That last part matters. You're getting a lens built for real jobs, not hobbyist weekends, at a price point that doesn't require a client invoice to justify. Sony E and Nikon Z shooters who've been eyeing the Sigma 35mm f/1.4 Art or the native 35mm options should run the numbers here before pulling the trigger on something that costs significantly more.
