Black and white photography is one of those topics that gets covered endlessly but almost always at surface level — contrast sliders, grain presets, done. The real problem with most monochrome work isn't technical. It's that shooters convert to B&W as an afterthought, not a deliberate choice made at the moment of capture. Emotional B&W starts with how you read light before you shoot, not how you push a Luminance panel after. If you're converting colour frames as a salvage operation, no amount of post work fixes it.
