Tamron 17-70mm F2.8 Coming to RF and Z Mount in July
Tamron's 17-70mm F2.8 Di III-A VC RXD is coming to Canon RF and Nikon Z mounts on July 2nd, priced at $749 USD. The Z-mount version weighs 540g; the RF version is 530g and uniquely adds physical switches for OIS and AF/MF control. Both get USB-C for firmware updates and Lens Utility app support. DPReview's 2021 review of the E-mount version flagged distortion, onion-ring bokeh, and longitudinal CA, but rated it solid overall for the price.

It's a constant f/2.8 zoom with built-in optical stabilisation, a 4.1x zoom range, and a 19cm minimum focus distance at the wide end — all in a weather-sealed, compact build.

Tamron's 17-70mm f/2.8 Di III-A VC RXD constant-aperture standard zoom is now confirmed for Canon RF and Nikon Z mounts, joining the existing Fujifilm X and Sony E versions. It covers 25.5-105mm equivalent on Nikon Z APS-C and 27.2-112mm on Canon RF APS-C, weighs 530-540g, and includes Tamron's VC stabilisation and RXD autofocus motor. Available early July 2026 in the UK and Ireland at £549.99/€649.99.

Tamron's 17-70mm F2.8 Di III-A VC RXD is coming to Canon RF and Nikon Z APS-C mounts, joining existing Sony E and Fujifilm X versions. The RF version gets two hardware switches for AF and OIS not found on any other variant. F2.8 constant aperture across a 26-105mm equiv. range on Nikon APS-C, 28-112mm equiv. on Canon, where most competing F2.8 APS-C zooms stop at around 50-55mm equiv.

Tamron 17-70mm F/2.8 Comes to Canon RF and Nikon Z APS-C
Tamron's 17-70mm F/2.8 Di III-A VC RXD is now available for Canon RF and Nikon Z APS-C mounts. Canon RF users get a 27.2-112mm equivalent; Nikon Z users get 25.5-105mm. Canon currently offers no native RF-S zoom with a constant F/2.8, making this the only option in that mount at that aperture for the full 17-70mm range. Same optical formula as the Sony E version: 16 elements, 12 groups, BBAR G2 coating, RXD stepping motor.
