Minna Camera, a Japanese peer-to-peer marketplace app, tracked seven months of transactions (November 2025 to June 2026) and found compact cameras filled nine of the top ten 'as-new' sales slots. Ricoh GR IV took the top spot, followed by the GR IIIx at two and the GR IV Monochrome at five. The only interchangeable-lens camera in the top ten was the Sony A7 V at number nine, with the highest per-unit transaction price at ¥323,098 (roughly AUD $3,100). DSLRs didn't appear at all. The data tracks alongside CIPA figures showing fixed-lens compact sales up 30% year-on-year.

Ricoh is stopping production of the GR IIIx and its variants in October due to parts availability ending, with the GR IVx not arriving until winter 2026 at the earliest. The 40mm-equiv model has had persistent stock problems, so the gap between production end and successor launch is worth noting if you've been sitting on the fence.

Ricoh has confirmed the GR IVx is in development, a 40mm f/2.8 equivalent companion to the existing 28mm GR IV. The new lens uses 8 elements in 6 groups with 3 aspherics, a more complex design than the GR IIIx it effectively replaces. Sensor steps up from the GR IIIx's 24MP FSI chip to the GR IV's 26MP BSI CMOS, and the body adds 5-axis stabilisation, the larger DB-120 battery, and WiFi 5. Full specs are published, suggesting development is well advanced. Launch is Winter 2026 or later; no price yet.

Ricoh has announced it's developing the GR IVx, a new addition to the GR line that slots alongside the existing GR IV and GR IIIx, built around a newly designed 40mm lens. Pre-orders are being tracked but full technical specs and pricing haven't landed yet.
