The OM-3 Astro is a single-purpose camera, and that's the point. OM System pulled the standard IR cut filter and replaced it with one tuned for Hydrogen Alpha wavelengths, then pre-loaded three custom shooting modes, Starry Sky autofocus on the AF-On button by default, and Live View Boost for dark foreground framing without a headtorch. At USD $2,500 body-only, it undercuts the modified camera conversion market significantly. The hard truth the review confirms: shoot it under daylight and you get an extreme red cast that's unusable. This is a dedicated astrophotography tool, full stop. If you're doing regular landscape or commercial work alongside your night sky shooting, buy the standard OM-3 and send a body out for conversion later. But if dark sky photography is your actual business or your serious side practice, this is the most turnkey Modified-sensor setup shipping from a major manufacturer right now.

OM System has filed a wireless certification in Singapore for a camera listed as IM042 — the next sequential number after the OM-5 Mark II in their registration series. Per PhotoRumors, an announcement is expected around September. The product type is unconfirmed, though a new PEN camera has been rumoured separately for a while.

Per 43Rumors, OM System's new PEN camera is confirmed for a September 9 announcement. Leaked specs point to a 20MP stacked sensor matching the OM-3 and OM-1 II, weather sealing, a creative dial, fully articulating screen, and an integrated viewfinder — the last of those being a notable step up from the E-P7 it reportedly resembles.

Per 43Rumors, two European sources put the new OM PEN body-only price at 1089€. The outgoing E-P7 currently sells for 799€ on Amazon DE and has neither weather sealing nor an EVF — both features reportedly on the new model. The OM-3 is priced at 1699€ in Europe.
