TIPA 2026 Photo & Imaging Award Winners Revealed
TIPA's 2026 winners list is worth scanning not as gospel but as a reliable industry compass — these awards reflect what working journalists across 30+ countries actually used and rated. The lens picks are the real signal here: Sigma's 35mm f/1.2 Art II and Sony's 50-150mm f/2 GM landing top spots suggests the fast-prime and fast-zoom renaissance isn't slowing down. File the camera winners as confirmation rather than revelation — most of these bodies were already on your radar.

Canon's RF Rear Cap Finally Works Like the Old EF One
That RF rear cap has been annoying Canon shooters for years. One attachment position, easy to half-seat it in low light, guaranteed fumble during a fast lens swap. The new cap fixes exactly that, going back to the three-position design Canon used on EF glass. At $9 each it's a no-brainer to stock up. The BR-E2 remote is the more interesting accessory for video-leaning shooters: two customisable buttons, half-press focus, jog lever for power zoom, and multi-camera switching without re-pairing. If you're running a hybrid setup or shooting vertical content with Canon's creator ecosystem, that tripod grip and remote combo is worth a look. Small stuff. But the cap fix alone is the kind of thing that saves you a curse word mid-shoot.

Canon Reviving PowerShot Line With Up to Three New Models in 2026
Canon's own annual report is the credible source here, not a leak, and that matters. When a manufacturer puts compact camera expansion in its official investor document, it's a commitment, not a product tease. For working photographers, the interesting signal isn't nostalgia for point-and-shoots. It's that Canon explicitly says these new compact buyers are not existing Canon users, so upcoming models will bring new technologies or use cases. That's code for something genuinely different from the G7 X formula. Three new PowerShots rumoured for Q3-Q4 2026, two of them high-end. Worth watching if you shoot social-first content or need a pocketable second camera that clients won't clock as a 'real camera.'

Canon Fires Out Firmware for R3, R6 II, R8, R10, R50 V and PowerShot V1
Canon is clearly doing a full-fleet firmware sweep right now, and if you're on any of these six bodies you should be checking for updates before you walk out the door. The R3 and R6 Mark II updates in particular are worth attention given how widely those bodies get used on commercial and event work. Canon's run of clean rollouts recently means there's no reason to sit on these.

Five Premium Compacts Tested: X100VI, RX100 VII, V1 and More
Five fixed-lens compacts tested together: Canon PowerShot V1, Fujifilm X100VI, Panasonic Lumix LX10, Panasonic Lumix ZS300, and Sony RX100 VII. The group spans meaningfully different sensor sizes, zoom ranges, and price brackets rather than splitting hairs between similar options.
