Kodak Factory Documentary Shot on Film Asks: Is Film Growing?
UK filmmaker Leon Barnard took an Arriflex 35-III and an Eclair ACL Super 16mm to Kodak's Rochester factory to document how color motion picture film is made — and shot the whole thing on film. Kodak remains the sole manufacturer of color motion picture film, and three of five Best Cinematography nominees at the 2026 Oscars used it.

Blackmagic PYXIS 12K Approved Media List Grows to 35 Cards + 5 USB-C SSDs
Blackmagic has expanded its approved media list for the PYXIS 12K to 35 CFexpress cards from nine manufacturers, plus five USB-C SSDs now qualified for external recording. Angelbird leads with eight entries across CFexpress 4.0 and 2.0 options; Delkin and Lexar each contribute multiple cards. The full list is published in Blackmagic's support FAQ.

Blackmagic PYXIS 12K Gets Phase Detect Autofocus in First Beta
Blackmagic has released beta firmware (Camera 10.2.96) adding phase-detect autofocus to the PYXIS 12K, settling a question that's been open since NAB 2025: the camera's RGBW sensor does support PDAF. The beta is Mac-only for now; the Windows installer is currently broken. Testing and feedback are being collected through the Blackmagic forum.

GoPro Sold for $285M, Miller Closes, Sony and Others Raise Prices
GoPro is being sold to Starman Optical — an optical-photonics company that builds transceivers for data centres — for $285 million. Same week, Miller, the Australian company that invented the fluid head in 1946, is closing. Sony, Tilta, Samsung, and Apple have all raised prices.
