Leica Still Services 20-Year-Old Cameras. No One Else Does.
Every photographer has had the 'why does a Leica cost that much' conversation. The real answer isn't the brass top plate or the German factory tour. It's that Leica will still fix your M8 in 2026, twenty years after it shipped. No Canon, Nikon, or Sony body from 2006 is getting factory service today. If you're buying a camera you plan to shoot for decades, not upgrade every three years, the total cost of ownership calculation shifts significantly. Still expensive. But not irrational.

Canon Fires Out Firmware for R3, R6 II, R8, R10, R50 V and PowerShot V1
Canon is clearly doing a full-fleet firmware sweep right now, and if you're on any of these six bodies you should be checking for updates before you walk out the door. The R3 and R6 Mark II updates in particular are worth attention given how widely those bodies get used on commercial and event work. Canon's run of clean rollouts recently means there's no reason to sit on these.

Canon EOS R8 Body-Only Stock Discontinued at Retail
Canon EOS R8 body-only stock has been cut off at the wholesale level, per two retailers who told Canon Rumors they can no longer place new orders. Kit stock with the RF 24-50mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM is still moving but that's existing warehouse inventory, not fresh supply.
