Sigma's 50mm f/1.2 DG DN Art just beat every first-party 50mm on the market in Christopher Frost's shootout, landing above Canon's RF 50mm f/1.2 L, Sony's FE 50mm f/1.2 GM, and Nikon's Z 50mm f/1.2 S. If you're speccing a 50mm for portrait, editorial or event work, the Sigma costs significantly less than any of those native flagships and apparently outresolves them all.

The review flags chromatic aberration, distortion, vignetting, and uneven bokeh as real drawbacks, and notes the $220 RF 50mm F1.8 sits just below it in the lineup. No weather sealing.

Canon has filed a patent for a dual-motor focus design, and Canon Rumors connects it to a likely refresh of the RF 85mm f/1.2L USM. Both the 85mm and 50mm f/1.2L use Ring-Type USM, which Canon is moving away from, and both have seen patchy stock lately.
