Insta360 Luna Ultra, CIPA's compact surge, and a photo copyright rehearing

A launch, a rehearing, and market figures
From the Editor

Insta360's Luna Ultra gimbal camera is out — the announcement came ahead of schedule after a B&H listing went live under embargo and a creator made a purchase before the official release date. The Ninth Circuit has also granted a rare en banc rehearing in Sedlik v. Kat Von D, the photography copyright case involving Jeffrey Sedlik's Miles Davis portrait and a tattoo derived from it. Separately, CIPA's January–April shipment data shows fixed-lens compact cameras up 30% year-on-year, while full-frame mirrorless is down 11% for the same period.
