Laowa Brings AF 180mm Macro and 7.5mm Ultrawide to Fujifilm X
Fujifilm X shooters have been waiting for a serious autofocus macro option that doesn't require a Fujinon budget. The Laowa AF 180mm f/4.5 Apo Macro 1.5x is already well-regarded on Sony and Nikon mounts, and it hits X mount with 1.5x magnification — that's beyond true macro, genuinely useful for product, food, and scientific work. The 7.5mm f/2.8 ultrawide with AF is the more interesting announcement for working photographers: wide primes with autofocus are rare at this focal length on X mount, and it opens up architectural, real estate, and environmental portrait work that the manual Laowa 7.5mm f/2 never could. No pricing confirmed yet, but Venus Optics has been consistently undercutting native glass without embarrassing themselves optically. X shooters have a reason to watch this one closely before the next job that needs reach or extreme width.
