Sony Proposes to Acquire Tamron as Wholly Owned Subsidiary

Sony has made a non-binding proposal to acquire Tamron and fold it into Sony Group as a wholly owned subsidiary. Tamron confirmed the proposal and has set up a Special Committee to review its options. Sony already owns around 15% of Tamron and the two have shared a manufacturing relationship for years. Tamron currently makes lenses across Sony E-mount and Nikon Z-mount, with an APS-C line that also covers Canon.
