The UK Home Office has published a booklet for asylum seekers that tells recipients not to photograph or film people in public places like streets or parks without permission. The City of London & Cripplegate Photographic Society chair has flagged the guidance as both misleading and legally incorrect — no UK law bans photographing people in public spaces. Street photographers are responding with concern that the guidance, if left unchallenged, could be used to justify further restrictions on public photography.
