At roughly a third the price of Sony's 50mm GM, the Viltrox AF 50mm f/1.4 Pro delivers sharp results from f/2 down and solid build quality with physical controls. Wide open it softens, and the bokeh gets busy — but for portrait, street, and general client work where you're stopping down anyway, the GM premium stops making sense fast. Sony and Nikon Z shooters looking for a workhorse 50mm without the flagship price tag should read this before defaulting to Sigma.
