Camera Raw Gets Depth Range Masking in Photoshop
Camera Raw can now mask by depth layer, not just subject or background. Pick a slice of the scene, foreground rocks, hazy midground, distant sky, and edit it independently. If you've ever spent 20 minutes painting luminosity masks to separate a near-field from a far-field in a landscape shot, this is the one to know about. Genuinely useful for architectural and editorial work too, anywhere you need precise tonal separation across depth without fiddly selections.

Sony a7R VI Raw Files Tested: No Penalty for the Speed Upgrade
The concern with stacked sensors has always been the same: you trade image quality for speed, and high-res shooters pay for it in noise. The a7R VI's Raw files say that's not happening here. Mid and high ISO noise levels track the a7R V closely, which means clients shooting architecture, product, or fine art on the VI aren't giving anything up to get the faster readout. Adobe support is live now, so if you're evaluating whether the upgrade makes sense before your next big job, you can pull your own conclusions from the files today rather than waiting on a full review.

Adobe has moved Lightroom's Assisted Culling out of early access, adding a Face View that surfaces detected faces so you can check focus and open eyes yourself, plus stack sorting that puts the best candidate first. A third-party integration brings Topaz Labs' Noise-Aware Sharpen model directly into Lightroom, though it draws on AI feature credits not included in all Creative Cloud plans. Sony a7R VI RAW support is also in, including the new Compressed (HQ) format, which carries through to Photoshop via Adobe Camera Raw.
