Affinity Files Now Open Natively in Capture One and DaVinci Resolve
If you've been using Affinity Photo as your Photoshop alternative but hitting a wall when handing files off to Capture One or DaVinci Resolve, that wall just came down — native .af format support means no more destructive exports to get your retouched files into your raw processor or grading suite.

Why Photographers Are Actually Leaving Adobe Now
The Adobe exodus isn't about anger at price hikes. It's about alternatives finally being good enough. For years, photographers grumbled and renewed anyway because walking away meant rebuilding everything — catalogs, presets, client delivery, tethering workflows. That's no longer true. Capture One handles tethering better. DxO PureRaw sits cleanly inside existing workflows. Affinity Photo is a one-time purchase that doesn't phone home. The switch still costs time, but it no longer costs capability. If you're billing enough hours that the Adobe tax stings, run the numbers now — not at renewal time when you're under deadline pressure and just click yes again.

Capture One's Export Speed Has Tanked Since Last Update
If your Capture One exports feel slower lately, you're not imagining it. The most recent version shipped with what looks like a genuine performance regression on export, and it's hitting single-file exports too, not just the big batch jobs you'd normally blame on your machine. That's the tell. When a handful of selects takes longer than it should, something in the pipeline changed. Worth keeping an eye on before your next turnaround-critical job, and worth checking Capture One's support channels to add your voice to the noise.

DaVinci Resolve's Photo Tool: Real Competition or Video Editor Cosplay?
Resolve 21's Photo tool is genuinely interesting if you already live in Resolve for video work. For a hybrid shooter cutting between stills and footage in the same project, the appeal is obvious: one application, one colour pipeline, no round-tripping. But if your stills workflow is Lightroom or Capture One right now, nothing in this beta is pulling you away. Resolve's colour grading heritage is world-class; its photo culling, metadata handling, and DAM features are not, and that gap is what actually matters on delivery day. Worth watching, not worth switching.

Capture One Beta Previews Enhanced Denoise and Faster Culling
Capture One's current beta has two features worth watching: Enhanced Denoise, which looks to be a proper one-click upgrade over the existing manual tool, and Assisted Review for culling. Denoise is the bigger deal. Capture One's existing noise removal works, but it's always been hands-on work during editing. If Enhanced Denoise delivers something closer to a batch-capable, high-quality result, that changes the maths on high-ISO jobs: event work, available-light editorial, anything you've been sending to a separate tool. Assisted Review is less exciting on paper but faster culling is real time back in your day. Both are beta, so they're not in your hands yet, but if you're evaluating Capture One versus competitors right now, this is worth factoring in.
