GoPro Merges with Optical-Photonics Firm Starman to Avoid Collapse

GoPro has entered a merger agreement with Starman Optical Inc, a US optical-photonics company whose transceivers are used in data centre infrastructure. The deal, pending stockholder and regulatory sign-off, is expected to complete by end of 2026. GoPro posted a 26% revenue fall in Q1 2025, with camera sales down 28%, and has plans to cut 23% of staff by year end.
