A new 2026 edition of Josef Koudelka: Invasion Prague 68 is out, and Aperture has published a conversation with Koudelka about the seven days he spent photographing the Soviet-led Warsaw Pact invasion of Czechoslovakia in August 1968. Koudelka describes going immediately into the streets when tanks entered Prague on August 21, working without preconceptions across what he calls an exceptional week when the invasion briefly dissolved the divisions between Czechoslovak people.
