Nikon ZR: Nine Months In, Owners Still Waiting on Firmware

Nine months after launch, the Nikon ZR has two firmware releases to its name. Version 1.10 delivered real additions: wired LTC timecode via 3.5mm, RED-style file naming, selectable R3D NE 12-bit in AUTO mode, LUT capacity up to 50, and continuous recording extended to 360 minutes for ProRes 422 HQ, H.265, and H.264. Version 1.11 fixed two bugs. The video-workflow gaps reviewers noted at launch remain, and per CineD, Nikon has not committed to a timeline for further updates.
