Taro, born Gerta Pohorylle, became a war photographer alongside Robert Capa in 1930s Paris, where the two invented the Capa alias to sell their work. The source adds useful gear history: Taro shot much of her early Spanish Civil War work on a medium-format Rolleiflex Standard, not the Leica the film's title references, and didn't move primarily to a Leica II until February 1937.
