Sony FX Camera Rumoured for July 22 Announcement
Sony is rumoured to announce a new FX-series cinema camera on July 22nd, per PhotoRumors. The unconfirmed specs include a 16.6MP full-frame stacked CMOS, triple base ISO at 800/4000/12800, approximately 16 stops of dynamic range, internal 16-bit RAW recording in X-OCN LT format, IBIS, dual card slots (CFexpress Type A + SD), and a 3.5-inch articulating touchscreen. Body-only pricing is reported at over €5,000. The model name is unconfirmed — FX4 and FX5 are both in circulation.

Sony FX5 Announced: Full-Frame 5K, Internal X-OCN RAW, 4K 240p
Sony's FX5 is a new full-frame Cinema Line body with a 16.6MP stacked sensor, 5K open gate, internal 16-bit X-OCN RAW, three base ISOs, and 4K up to 240fps. It slots between the FX3 and FX6 and pairs the new BIONZ XR2 processor with a stacked readout architecture the FX3 never had.

Sony Cinema Line cameras up 12-19% in Japan from September
Sony Japan has confirmed price hikes across its Cinema Line, effective September 1, 2026. The FX3A body goes from ¥581,900 to ¥693,000 (up 19.1%), the FX6 body from ¥935,000 to ¥1,045,000 (up 11.8%), the FR7 PTZ from ¥1,430,000 to ¥1,622,500 (up 13.5%), and the FX30 body from ¥297,000 to ¥319,000 (up 7.4%). Sony cites rising raw material, manufacturing, and logistics costs. No Australian pricing announced yet, but Japan moves often flow through to other markets.
