Fujifilm has released firmware 1.10 for the GFX ETERNA 55, fixing white balance instability when shooting with PL-mount lenses — both Fujifilm's own glass not yet updated to ETERNA 55 firmware and third-party optics. Alongside the update, Fujifilm published a public firmware roadmap through 2027 promising automatic electronic ND control, LANC support, in-camera MXF playback, additional anamorphic desqueeze options, and remote control of FUJINON Duvo lenses. Hard warning from Fujifilm: wrap any in-progress project before updating, as colour tone may change and matching footage across firmware versions will be a problem.

MID49 is one of the first accessory makers out with a full modular rig for the Sony FX5. The key piece is a TWIST Mount EVF system that works around a confirmed Sony limitation: out of the box, the DVF-EL1 viewfinder and the XLR-H2 handle can't run at the same time. MID49's EVF extension cable fixes that, letting operators use the viewfinder alongside the handle's 96 kHz/32-bit float audio simultaneously. Also in the lineup: a rod clamp for the XLR-H2, swing-away V-Mount and Gold Mount power plates, and a quick-release baseplate with both ARCA and ARRI dovetail interfaces.

Fujifilm has announced ETERNA ProRemote, a free iOS and iPadOS app for the GFX ETERNA 55, releasing late September 2026. It operates across three modes with different trade-offs: Bluetooth-only Simple mode handles up to four cameras with start/stop, power zoom, and settings backup but no live view; Advanced-Single adds Wi-Fi for live view, focus, and lens control on one camera; Advanced-Multiple covers up to four cameras with live view but needs an external access point via Wi-Fi or wired LAN. No IP address or password entry required in any mode. Fujifilm is showing it at IBC 2026 in Amsterdam, September 11-14.

Fujifilm's VF-GFXC2 EVF turned up at IBC 2026 in near-final form, a 0.64-inch OLED running 2048x1536 in a 4:3 aspect ratio to match the GFX ETERNA 55's sensor, rated at 1,000 nits and 1.0x magnification. Two display modes: full panel with no UI overlay, or a cropped-in view with shooting data around the edges. The camera sends a processed signal over a single cable, so magnification is a camera-side setting rather than a finder function.
