It's a 3-axis gimbal camera with a 1-inch 8K sensor behind a Leica Summicron lens, plus a second telephoto unit on a 1/1.3-inch sensor at F2.0 covering five focal lengths up to 12x zoom. Video tops out at 8K30fps with Dolby Vision, 10-bit I-Log logging, and 14 stops of dynamic range claimed. Stills are 37MP. A detachable OLED touchscreen is included. DJI sued Insta360 on June 10 over the Luna Ultra gimbal camera, claiming it copies patented subject-tracking systems, gimbal modes, and physical design. Insta360 hit back the same week with five countersuits targeting the Osmo Pocket, Ronin/RS, Osmo Mobile, and Osmo 360. DJI is seeking a permanent U.S. sales ban on the Luna Ultra; both sets of cases are before U.S. courts and unresolved.
