auto_awesomePixelfetch Take
Letizia Battaglia spent decades photographing Mafia crime scenes, murders, and corrupt politicians in Palermo for L'Ora newspaper, accumulating around 600,000 images before the paper folded in 1990. A new book collects her work, including material beyond the crime reportage she's best known for. Self-taught, she began shooting in her 40s and her photos were used as evidence linking politicians to organised crime.
